First Fast Crusade event of the year and you all better be there. Starts at 6 on Thursday April 15th, you will have 15 minutes to look over your manifests and then an hour to retrieve as many photos (digital camera or camera phone is fine) of landmarks on the manifest and make it back to the start. Each landmark will have different point values and every minute after the hour counts for a 1 point deduction. This event is open to any kind of bike but for those riding fixed you will get a 2 point bonus if you finish before the hour. There will be prizes for the top 3 riders so get all your friends together and come have a super fun time on your bikes. We will also be having some after race events - sprints, long skid, etc.

Continental Bike Swap April 17th and 18th

Duluth Snow Olympics at Chester Bowl

We held an event yesterday at Chester Bowl - it was AWESOME! Fox21 came out and interviewed us and filmed some of the riders - check it out here to see the video and read the article. There were over 30 kids out on the hill competing and having fun. Taylor from FOD, Me, TJ, Zach, and Sam were the judges for the event (and the set-up and tear down crew). Chester let us put together a super fun park for the kids - starting with a 15 foot down bar into 3 more options; a kicker over a cone, a 12 foot down culvert and a 10 foot flat box. A huge thank you goes out to all the sponsors - Continental Ski and Bike, FOD, CandyGrind, and Privateer (Sam if you have a website add it in the comments). Also a big thanks to Sarah for putting this all together. Here are a bunch of photos from the competition.

Please include your name, age, email, indicate if you are a snowboarder or skier, and rider skill level! Also, If you are under 18 helmets will be REQUIRED and you will need your parent or guardian to sign a release waiver before the event.

There is no registration fee for this event, only a lift ticket is required to ride.

Each day will be broken into two separate riding heats the 1st heat from 10AM - 11:30AM will be for moderate to intermediate riders the 2nd heat from 1:30PM to 3:00PM will be from intermediate to advanced riders. Each of these two heats will be broken into snowboard and ski groups.

All riders must report to the Sessions Registration Tent the day of the event to fill out all necessary paperwork, sign liability waivers, and receive a wrist band. Registration will open at 9AM on Feb 27th & 28th.

The Lakeffect is once again hosting the first rail jam of the year just for you. On Saturday Oct. 3rd from noon to 7 you can come and ride for $5 all day. We will have the same setup as last year plus a fifteen foot down bar into a hitching post after the Lakeffect box. There will be concessions and blowout sales on last years hard and soft goods. (Ride Kinks for $275 + free ride bindings.) We also have a huge $1 raffle for an arbor snowboard, drake bindings, candygrind gloves, bern helmets, vans boots, and other wonderful prizes. A week from today on the 9th of July Continental is hosting a Ragbrai tribute ride. The ride will start at Brighton Beach and will go for 15 to 20 miles up and back along the shore and afterwards there will be a free BBQ hosted by Continental Ski and Bike. This will be a short, fun ride just like ragbrai (except shorter) so everyone is encouraged to come out and celebrate biking together.

Lincoln Park Mountain Bike Festival

We just got the posters and brochures in for the Lincoln Park Mountain Bike Challenge and Festival and the event looks like it's going to be sweet. The event is going to be held on Saturday July 18th from 9 to 9. There is going to be a Raffle with a Grand Prize of 1000 dollars cash and races for classes from kids to advanced all with 1st place receiving cash. There is also a Trials competition, live music, food and retail vendors and a Beer garden. All in all it looks like it's going to be a great time. You can register for it at www.LPBG.org

There will be refreshments and bike safety checks at the Minnesota Power Plaza, Lake Avenue and Superior Street, from 7-9am

The DTA will be giving free bus fare to cyclists with their bikes all day on May 15th.

When asked to join in the events and participate in riding his bike to work, Mayor Don Ness replied “I’m game”!

Cyclists are encouraged to challenge their co-workers and pledge that they'll ride to work in the months of May and June for Western Lake Superior Habitat for Humanity. The cyclist with the most pledges will win a bike from Continental. Pledge forms are available at Fitger's front desk, Continental Ski and Bike or Red Rock Radio

Continental Ski and Bike in association with the UMD Cycling Club is going to premier the fixed bike video MASHsf on Thursday May 7th starting at 8 p.m. on the terrace outside of the Kirby Student Center (weather permitting otherwise it will be in the Kirby student center). The video is sweet and the event should be a fun time for everybody to meet others and talk about biking and watch people go fast on bikes.

Last weekend Robert and I made it down to my home mountain - Granite Peak in Wausau, WI for some fun times and rail jam action. Robbie came home with first and I came home with second. The park is super fun and has a really dedicated staff that wants everything to get better and better. If you have time they are having a spring jam on the 25 and 26 of April that should be amazing. Spirit Mountain is opening this Saturday and Sunday from 9-5. Then closing next week until thursday. Be there it's going to be a super fun time.
